Adam, the Light

It feels deeply uncomfortable to be thinking about putting on a party so soon after Adam's passing, but our  next date with David Mancuso at the Light is just around the corner, so there's not much else to be done.

I can imagine Adam wearing a big grin on his face as he comments on the sheer longevity of the mourning period that has run between his death and our decision to start dancing again. Alongside David Mancuso, however, Adam was more committed to the idea of the downtown party than anyone else I know, so I can't imagine he'd have wanted us to call it off. And if David plays a record that I remember Adam playing, or that reminds me of Adam, well, I might not feel ecstatic, but I'll be pleased, because it will be a way to connect with a friend who still feels like he must be around.

It's with a rather heavy heart, then, that I'm going to paste below the letter that we just sent out to the Lucky Cloud Sound System list. It would be great to see you and meet you on the dance floor because, well, these Journey Through the Light parties have taken on a life of their own, and it's a life that Adam dedicated himself to every day that he lived, as well as the one, at his beloved Burning Spear festival, where he died.

Now we're beginning to get excited! Just ten days to go until we return to the Light with David Mancuso (the Loft) on 24 September for what promises to be a spectacular party. Everything you have come to expect
