I published my first book, Love Saves the Day: A History of American Dance Music Culture, 1970-79 in early 2004, and was thrilled that David Mancuso launched the book at his 35th anniversary Loft party in NYC. My second book, Hold On to Your Dreams: Arthur Russell and the Downtown Music Scene, 1973-92, grew out of research for Love Saves the Day and was published in 2009. My third book, Life and Death on the New York Dance Floor, 1980-83, was published in September 2016. All three books have been published by Duke University Press, where I have been privileged to work with editor-in-chief Ken Wissoker Writing these books will be the death of me but I find the work completely and utterly absorbing. They have also enabled me to lead a charmed life that encompasses hosting parties, DJing, gallery consultancy, journalism, and public talks and interviews.
